Friends or enemies? Frienemies! {Shared fanfic with Susanna}

"All venom doesn't kill. Some spiders use venom on their prey. If they bite a human it's just going to sting for some time and your skin gets red and itchy.
And do you think I am that stupid to try to trick a teacher to believe my stories? I only lie to them about stuff my parents do. No harm there."

"No, unless your parents and the headmistress finds out about your little secrets." Even though Belle doesn't know any of this girl's secret's, she was trying to come of as confident, smart, and witty.

"My parents don't care. Me and my sister are just an investment to them. If we don't burn the school down or serious stuff like that they will not bother." She shrugged. "But what does it matter to you. I might be lying again for all you know."

"And I might be lying about every single little thing that I have said since I walked into you. People don't know who is lying to them or not, only the person who is talking knows that they were lying or telling the truth. It's better to tell the truth instead of lying all the time. And I don't have time for liars." And with that being sad, Belle turned around and walked farther away.

She watched the girl walk away from her. Shrugging her shoulders. "And I don't have time for outsiders..." She muttered to herself, walking below deck to Rosa.

Belle stopped walking. She turned around sharply. "I am not an outsider."

She continued walking below the deck, ignoring the girl.
Of course she was an outsider. If she was not her sister, she was an outsider to her. And she like nobody else would never understand that.

Belle walked away, grumbling to herself.

~3 years later~
Belle, now fourteen, was walking down the halls of Avalorn, reading "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" by Victor Hugo.

Susanna was walking along the hallways. She was heading to the dorms. She was going to do some studying. Knowing well Rosa would start distracting her at one point.
When taking a turn around the corner she felt someone bump into her. She looked at the person, a bit annoyed by the action. To her surprise it was someone familiar. "Dé ja vu. Do you allways walk around distracted?" She grabbed the book from the girls hand, wanting to know what was so engaging to the girl.
"Hunchback of Notre Dame? What's so interesting in this?" She gently tapped Belle on the head with the book, giving it back to her.

"Hey!" Belle protested when someone took away her book. And then she saw who that someone is. Susanna. Ugh, ever since Belle was eleven and Susanna was twelve, the two girls haven't gotten along real well. Not really enemies, but not really friends either.
"Therre was many things that are interresting about Notre Dame, Susanna," Belle said as she got her book back. "One, it's classic literature. Two, it dates back to during the time Napolean was incontrol of France. Three, the main character, Quasimodo, is the deaf bellringer of Notre Dame. And he is the hunchback in the title. You see, there are many interesting things about the story and the author. And it makes me feel closer to my family and where I originally came from."

"Allright, allright. Calm down. I was asking nicely for once." She giggeled.
"Do you really miss your home that much, or are you just saying that?" She asked genuelly not really understanding why someone would miss home so much. She had her sister with her and that was all she needed to feel like she was home. Their parents had allways been strangers to them.

Belle raised an eyebrow, confused. Okaaaay... Susanna wasn't always this nice to her... "Yeah, kinda. I have family who lives there. I was born in Paris. I'm half-French, half-American. But during the summer and Christmas breaks, my family comes to visit me in Nebraska. What about your family?"

She shrugged. "Well me and Rosa go home during summer and Christmas. And we are required to have the mandatory Christmas dinner with them, but otherwise we don't see them that often.
Rosa is the only family I would actually miss." Well that was putting it lightly, but it was true in a way. She would probably react much worse if she was separated from her sister for too long.
"But since we share the same room in the school I feel right at home here." She gave a soft laugh, folding her arms over her chest.

Belle gave her a kind smile. "I'm sorry, about your relationship with your parents. My family means to world to me. I don't know what I would do without them... So... How is Rosa? This is the first time I have seen you without her all day. You two are practically always attached at the hip with each other."

She realised she probably had said too much. "Don't be sorry. I am not looking for pitty."
The mention of her sister got her guard up. "She is doing good. Why do you ask? Eventhough we are close we can spend time apart sometimes."

Belle put herr hands up in a 'we surrenderr!' type of way. These kind of moments with Susanna are very, very rare. And she would like not to have a fight with her. "I didn't mean to make it think that I was pitting you. I just find it sad that you, Rosia, and your parents don't spend that much time together. "
When Belle saw Susanna stiffened when she talked about Rosia, she raised her eyebrow. She was sure that their sister/best friend relationship was a bit... more than that at times... Ugh, what am I thinking? she thought. They are just sisters who are about each other a lot, that's all.
"It's just... Seeing how close you two are, kinda makes some people wonder... Well, it actually makes some of the KaleVala House wonder a bit..."

Susanna frowned. She moved closer to Belle, getting her between herself and the wall. Blocking all escape routes from her.
"Want to tell me what are you swans wondering? If you have something to say about me and my sister. Please don't hold back. Spit it out." She said a bit of edge in her voice. She had a hunch what they might be whispering. But that didn't mean she would admit it, or let people get away with such claims.

Oh, shit, Belle thought. I shouldn't have said that. I should not have said that.
She bit her lip. "N-nothing bad. It's just.... Well, um, I-I don't know how to put this..."

She slammed her hand against the wall. Wanting to get it out of her. "What is it?!" She was getting angry now. If this was spreading around the school she would make a stop to it.

Belle's eyes widened, scared that Susanna was going to hurt her. "Some people think that you and Rosia are dating!" she blurted and then covered her mouth. Oh, shit, she thought. I'm dead meat.

She stared at the other girl for a long time in silence. Letting the fear sink in her for a moment.
Then she turned on the water works. Turning away from Belle. "How could they think things like that!? That is sick!" She sobbed, wiping her tears away, trying to show some of her tough side.
She whirled around. "Do you think so too?!"

Belle shooked herr head. "No! Of course not! I tell them that it's most defiantly not true." Lie. Belle does think it. Thank God that she's a good liar. Belle had that innocent, I-Don't-Believe-Them look on her face.

Susanna looked at Belle. Starting to sob again. "I-is it just you swans who are saying that?"
She did want to know how far this rumor had spread, if she was to put an end to it. She took a seat on one of the benches by the walls. "I don't know what to do.." She manged to sob before she burried her face into her hands. "How could people think of such a thing?? We would never do such a thing..."

Belle sat right next to Susanna and put a comforting arm around her shoulders. "Only a few, three or four at the most. I could tell them that it's not true, that just because you two are super close doesn't mean that you're together. " Then, she wiped away a tear. "Don't cry, Susanna. Please don't. People want to see your pretty little smile on your pretty face. "

She looked at Belle. "Thank you." She felt a bit weird being comforted by someone else than Rosia.
She wiped her tears away. Sniffing a little.
"How come you are being so nice to me, when I am always mean to you?"
