Well OK then... (Shared with Milo)

Jane looked out the open window, thinking about what Milo told her ten minutes ago. He was gay. Milo Thatch was gay. It was very, very, very uncommon for a homosexual to be at Hogwarts. Yes, she knew about Dumbledore, but not of anyone being close to her age. And now she might have to deal with not only male students, but female students also who might form stupid, silly schoolboy or schoolgirl crushes on her. Jane's owl, Owlicious, a snowy owl, flew to her. Jane pet him and said, "Baby boy, I'm going to need to send you a letter to Jaxon. Ok?" Owlicious hooted and Jane got some paper and a quill. And began to write.
~A few minutes later~
"Ok, Owlicious. It's done. Want to listen to it?" He hooted and Jane read the letter to him.
"Dear Jaxon,
Hey love, it's Jane. Life in America and here at Avalorn is quite strange. I found out something. The school has quite the population of homosexuals. I know, I can't believe it either. How I found out was from the new librarian, Milo. Who happens to be gay. Jaxon, I don't know what to do. Ever since Albus' death, I've been sketchy around other homosexuals, afraid that I'll grow cclose to them like I did with Albus and then having them be ripped away from me. Jaxon... Do you think that it was a bad idea to accept the Muggle's Studies job? That I should have waited? I don't know what to do, Jaxon. I miss you. I miss Daddy. I miss all of our friends. I miss London. I miss Hogwarts. I miss Albus Dumbledore. Please... Please write back. I need your wisdom.

It wasn't until she was done when she realised that her voice craked a few times and thatshe was crying and that her tear were on the letter. She placed the letter on the desk she was sitting at, rested herr elbows on it, placed her head in her hands, and crried.

Milo silently stood behind one of the various book shelves as he listened to Jane's letter. He had found her quite a while ago, but decided not to approach her yet. So...that was the reason behind her reaction to Milo's orientation? She was just afraid for something like Dumbledore to happen to her again. He really regretted telling her...Milo had just thought he had found someone to really talk to truthfully. Of course some students knew..but professors? Not really. A few probably knew and kept it to themselves so they wouldn't trouble Milo. He sighed shakily when he heard her break down into tears. It was time to reveal himself now.

Milo walked out of his hiding place and stopped a decent distance from Jane. He was unsure of what to say and do. Was this how Mr. Stephens felt when he found Milo crying that time? He grimaced slightly and cleared his voice lightly. Here went nothing. "I see that you found the library, Jane," he murmured loudly with a guilty voice. He rubbed his arm slightly as he looked over at Jane nervously. He wasn't sure if he was allowed to comfort her...

Jane gasp and shot up, accidentally knocking her chair. She wiped away her tears and looked at Milo. "How... How long have you been there?" she asked, scared to hear his answer. Please tell me that he just got here, please tell me that he just got here, she thought to herself. She stood infront of the letter, hoping that he didn't see it.

He chewed his lip slight and flinched at the sound of the chair. He swallowed slightly and looked to the side. "I've been here...for quite a time." he said as he watched her try to block the letter out of his vision.

(OOC: XD forgot that I was still Taran)

Owlicious hooted and Jane looked at him, seeing that he was about to fly at Milo and possibly attack him. "Owlicious, no!" Jane said. He looked at her and flew to her and sat on her shoulder. Jane petted him and gave Milo a sheepish smile. "Sorry. He was my mum's and he has been very protective of me since her death."

Milo sighed in relieve when the snowy owl sat down on Jane's shoulder. "It's alright, it's wonderful to have animals protective of their owners." Milo said with a smile. "He's quite a beautiful snowy owl. My cousin would have a fit over him."

Jane smiled at the old creature and pet it's head. It tweeted like a songbird. "He tries to act all big and tough when actually, he's just as scary as a little nightingale. Harmless. Unless I'm in trouble or he thinks that someone might be a threat to me. Took him awhile to like Jaxon. Three years."

Milo raised an eyebrow at this information. "Three years? Tough bird I see." He lowly whistled in surprise.

Jane nodded. "Indeed he is." Then, Owlicious looked att Milo, flew to him, sat on his shoulder, and rubbed his owl head against Milo's head, cooing and wearing an owl smile. Jane gasped. "He... He only does that to people who he trust! He just met you and yet, he already trust you..."

He chuckled lightly and stroked the owl's feathers gently. "Hmm, I wonder if he could read my mind? I was thinking about my time in Care for Magical creatures class," Milo said with a grin.

Jane laughed and walked over to Milo. She stroked Owlicious head and said, "As far as I know, he doesn't read minds. He can just kinda sense if someone can be trusted or not. It usually takes months or years, not seconds." She looked at Milo and smiled. "Maybe you're a bit special than the people that he's met before."

He grinned in delight at this. "I'll take that as a compliment?" He joked as he glanced up at Owlicious. He smiled softly at the memory of his sorting. "I really have a soft spot for owls ever since my sorting."

Jane smiled. "Because of your house, Owlorn. Owls are amazing. They are so knowledgable and intelligent.My favorite animals. Well, those and Apes." Jane smiled at her memory of when she was in Africa.

"Mine are owls and foxes," he admitted with a soft sign. "Even though I didn't want to be sorted in my family's houses, Gerwulf and Vulpes....I did have a special liking for foxes. They're cunning beautiful creatures." He added.

"They too are very intelligent creatures. Sly, cunning, smart. Amazing little devils," Jane said, stroking Owlicious head. His head was still rubbing against Milo's. "He really likes you, Milo. I think you got a new friend."

Milo nodded in agreement. "I like him too. Nice to meet you, Owlicious," he exclaimed to the owl with a grin as he stroked his back slightly.

Owlicious nibbed Milo's ear, but in a friendly way. Jane couldn't help but giggle. "That's his way of saying 'hello' to a friend."

He slightly shook his head and laughed. "I see. A very unique way to say hello," He chuckled.

"And then there is another way of him saying 'hello' or 'I like you buddy', but I don't think you want to know," Jane said.

Milo gave Jane a skeptical look then glanced at Owlicious with a raised eyebrow. "Since you say that, then I rather not have him give me the other greeting."

Before Jane could say anything, Owlicious bit Milo's nose. "Owlicious!" Jane said, trying hard not to laugh.

"Ouch!" Milo yelped slightly as he shook Owlicious off his shoulder in surprise. Then he proceeded to rub his nose lightly. "Quite the beak," Milo murmured as he raised an eyebrow at the owl that landed back on Jane's shoulder.

Jane had her hand covering her mouth, trying not to laugh out loud. But her shoulders shook with laughter and her blue eyes were sparkling with laughter. "Are... Are you ok?" she asked.

Milo huffed slightly and looked at you with a frown. "So you thought that was funny?" He asked before his frown quickly turned into a grin. "Well it wasn't as bad as getting bitten by a monster book," he added with a laugh.

Jane was scared that he was going to yell at her, but then when he brought up the monster book, Jane laughed. "I hated those things! They were awful."
